The event
The Conference, scheduled to take place from November 3rd to 5th, 2025, integrates activities from the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and UN-Habitat, focusing on land administration, spatial planning, and territorial management. Brazil was selected by FIG to host the event, with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) chosen as the organizing partner due to its academic expertise in these fields and its history of hosting the Multipurpose Cadastre and Territorial Management Congress (COBRAC) since 1994. As a member of FIG and Brazil’s representative in the international surveying community, UFSC was invited to host this edition of the workshop, following the success of the previous edition held in Kuching, Malaysia, which gathered more than 350 participants.
UFSC’s contribution will be facilitated by the Postgraduate Program in Transportation Engineering and Territorial Management (PPGTG), the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Territorial Observation and Transformation Group (GOTT), supported by additional institutions. The event will consist of four key components: the FIG Commission 7 Annual Meeting (Cadastre and Land Management), the FIG Commission 8 Annual Meeting (Spatial Planning and Development), the UN-Habitat Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM) workshop, and the 13th International FIG Workshop on LADM & 3D LA.
The event will be hybrid (in-person and remote) and all sessions will be held in a general plenary format (common) and will have simultaneous translation into Portuguese, English and Spanish. It should be noted that the theme defined for the event in Brazil was “Integrated Land Administration for Climate Geo-Resilience and Sustainable Development”. This event will foster collaboration between international experts and Brazilian stakeholders, contributing to advancements in land administration and spatial planning disciplines.
